Who Are We?
At Dialocal, we believe in the power of stories! Let's dive into the journeys of our co-founders, whose unique experiences and shared passions have converged to create a brand dedicated to purpose driven action and timeless style.

As a man of Torres Strait Islander lineage born in Perth, my journey has been one of discovery and connection—a journey that has taken me from the urban landscape of the city to the vibrant tapestry of Indigenous culture and the natural world. Growing up in Perth, I was surrounded by diverse influences, but it was the stories of my ancestors and the longing to connect with my cultural roots that shaped my identity.
While my early years may have been far from the turquoise waters and lush landscapes of the Torres Strait, my heart was always drawn to the land of my ancestors. This longing, combined with a passion for the environment and a fascination with marine life, led me to pursue a double degree in Marine Science and Zoology at the University of Western Australia.
It was during my studies that I became acutely aware of the urgent need to protect our planet and preserve Indigenous knowledge. Through my Master of Environmental Management, specializing in Environmental Mining Practices, I delved into the complexities of sustainable resource management and the intersection of Indigenous rights and environmental conservation.
Founding Dialocal was born out of a desire to bridge the gap between my cultural heritage, my passion for clothing, and my commitment to environmental stewardship. Drawing inspiration from Indigenous wisdom and storytelling traditions, Dialocal celebrates the beauty of Indigenous art and language while advocating for the protection of our natural world.
Each garment we create is a testament to the resilience of Indigenous cultures and the interconnectedness of all living beings. By incorporating Indigenous words and phrases related to animals into our designs, we not only honour our heritage but also strive to raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation.
For me, Dialocal is more than just a clothing brand; it's a platform for cultural expression, environmental activism, and community empowerment. It's a way to share the stories of my people, celebrate the richness of Indigenous culture, and inspire others to join us in protecting the planet we call home.

As a proud descendant of the Wadjuk, Ballardong, Yued, Wagyl Kaip, and Southern Noongar peoples, my journey is intricately woven with the threads of Indigenous heritage and cultural resilience. Growing up in the heart of Noongar country, I was immersed in our ancestral traditions and teachings, instilling in me a deep reverence for our land, culture, and community.
My path led me to a career in social work and the Department of Health, where I dedicated myself to advocating for Indigenous health, rights and promoting cultural empowerment. Through my work, I have had the privilege of supporting Aboriginal engagement activities and fostering community relations management. My involvement in initiatives such as the NAIDOC Perth Committee and the development of the inaugural Mr NAIDOC Perth program has allowed me to amplify Indigenous voices and celebrate our heritage on a broader platform.
Joining Kurt on the journey of founding Dialocal felt like a natural extension of my commitment to Indigenous empowerment. As an ambassador for the Noongar people, I bring with me a wealth of experience in cultural heritage surveys and a strong network within the Noongar community. My role at Dialocal is not just about creating clothing; it's about reclaiming our stories through language by empowering Indigenous voices to shine brightly in a world that often seeks to silence them.
Together, Kurt and I are united by our shared vision of creating a brand that not only showcases the beauty of Indigenous art and language but also advocates for environmental sustainability and social justice. Through Dialocal, we strive to uplift Indigenous communities, celebrate diversity, and inspire positive change for future generations. Our journey is one of cultural pride, resilience, and hope—a journey that invites others to join us in honouring the past, embracing the present, and shaping a more inclusive and equitable future for all.
